The recommended starting dosage of Soma is one tablet (of either strength, 250 mg or 350 mg) three times a day and at bedtime. Soma is intended to be used for a maximum of two to three weeks at a time. This should be enough time to allow any muscle injury or damage to heal. If you feel that the problem has not improved after two or three weeks, check with your healthcare provider. You may have an ongoing problem that needs to be treated differently.
Some considerations for people taking Soma include the following:
- Soma comes in tablet form. It is usually taken by mouth three times daily and at bedtime.
- You can take Soma with food or on an empty stomach. If it bothers your stomach, try taking it with food.
- In general, Soma should only be used for a maximum of two to three weeks at a time.
- Soma can cause significant drowsiness, and your healthcare provider may recommend that you take Soma only at night, especially if you need to be alert during the day.
- For the medication to work properly, it must be taken as prescribed. Soma will not work if you stop taking it.
